Thanks everyone for the replies. "R" is the code for Upgrade award inventory.

Crispy Rice,

I asked UA the specific question about the money counting towards the PQD and got a different reply. Email is posted below (with person info stripped out.) Did I not ask the right question? Hope that I'm correct and you are not but given UA, I fear differently.

Thanks.

Dear Mr. Xxxxxxxxxxx:

Per our Mileage Plus Department, dollars spent count toward your premier qualifying requirement if upgrade is obtained at time of ticket purchase with qualifying fare. If upgrade is purchased after original ticket purchase dollars spent do not count.

Please contact the MileagePlus Service Center for additional questions, feedback, or general information regarding your MileagePlus account. Our service is open 7 a.m. – 12 a.m. CST, 7 days a week. The telephone number is 800-421-4655.

You are a valued Premier Gold member and we appreciate your business and look forward to welcoming you on board a future United Airlines flight.

Message: Hi,

Are the dollars spent on "Reward Upgrade Service Fee" counted towards my annual Premier Qualifying Dollar requirement?

Thank you for your attention to my question.
