Someone in front of me at Costco inserted her AmEx while the clerk was ringing up her items and had to be told to swipe instead. I thought that was a bit amusing that people are just assuming the slots work whenever they see them now.
I try the same thing, but my hit rate is really low. Usually it results in puzzled looks from the cashiers.
