It is a pretty safe assumption that if you ever book a codeshare via AA/US, you should do so if you are not looking to upgrade or expect much worse options to upgrade (if any). This has been the issue as well for domestic flights (both e500-like upgrades and systemwide options).

I mean you likely paid a bunch more just for the right to earn EQM (since RDM are earned on EY numbers as well).
