Adding Return to Avois Redemption Snafu - Advice Needed
Long time reader (first post) and I've gained many invaluable tips while reading these posts. This includes booking Avios for the outbound and then calling to add a return when the return is 355+ days out (this is journey for June 2016).
Last night I saw the seats available for the return and called HK to add the return onto the existing booking.
The agent was a little confused (I'm using a Chase 2-4-1 and 2 GUF2 vouchers for 4 people in a HHA) but helpful and managed to get everything secured. She ran into some issues with the 2-4-1 so was not able to complete the ticketing and so I called the Gold line today.
What I did not catch or realize was that the HK agent created 2 new booking references rather than adding the return onto the existing booking.
Now I have an issue using the GUF2's and Chase 2-4-1 on the entire itinerary because they're separate bookings.
The agent today understood what had happened but if she cancels the return there is no guarantee that the Avios seats will reappear on those flights. She is contacting revenue management to see if they can resolve.
If that is unsuccessful does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed/resolve?
Appreciate your advice/insight.
