You will probably be credited the virtual flight. (I recently had a KL AMS-SIN-DPS flight that was credited as AMS-DPS.) I dont know if your retro-credit approach would work, but to be on the safe side you could have a 24h+ stop-over in PVG. Then it would count as two different flights.
