So I had the experience of having a flight cancelled 12 hours due to weather. This was a connecting flight and the first flight was delayed.

The flight was cancelled while I was on the way to the airport, and the airline for first flight rebooked me on the next flight, but was unable to touch the second flight (leaving my PNR displaying first flight departing after the second segment.)

In this case, are they to find the "next available" seat or do they rebook me based on "available award flights" ?
