(I can think of a couple of times when my room has unexpectedly been unsuitable for working in, one time the hotel in question gave me a meeting room with free refreshments to work from, the other time they opened the club lounge a few hours early for me so I could work there. No points or discounts, but I did get the work done I needed!)
That's a good point. Luckily I have a local SIM so I provided myself with a hotspot and my laptop battery (just) lasted until the power came back on. I would have had to speak to them if it had continued though.
With a bit of perspective I can see that it's not that much of a deal and I certainly won't ask for compensation. However, I am rather surprised by the attitude of earlier posters who seem to regard provision of power and wifi as entirely optional!
