Being based more near SFO than LHR, I generally tend do to SFO-LHR-SFO... and sales ex-US are very few and far between, especially West Coast. IMO, we haven't had a real sale since 2012. But maybe I don't have the deep pockets for air travel that some/most of you have. If we had anything similar to the 2012 sale I'd be snapping it up like there was no tomorrow.
Anyway, I forked over 30K Avios to upgrade to CW on my next return. And I guess I'm silly enough that I'd pay another 30K to upgrade the outward flight if/when there is availability. I don't seem to have much use for my Avios, so why not?
