Flew one of these for the first time and was generally pleased by the new J seat, though do agree the placement of the seat control panel was problematic and I did initiate a few reclines unintentionally. Flight was ORD-MIA so no tablets were distributed and IFE other than audio was limited to the screen at the front of the cabin and a pair midway over either aisle. Rather hard to read the tiny English subtitles on the Swedish/American sitcom that comprised the NBC collection of TV shows. Pretty much relied on my iPod to listen to podcasts and read during the flight. Was in 5A so had the side table by the window...will be in 4A on the flight back so will be seated next to the window, table on the aisle. Like having the "split level" table for dining...keep drinks on the fold down upper table, meal on the pull out (though that too was a bit problematic to restow).
The seat itself seemed quite comfortable in all positions and there was more than enough room in the leg slot when fully reclined in the bed position for me (just under 6').
Also, the two-row MCE cabin looked pretty comfortable and not claustrophobic, so if one's upgrade doesn't come through it would still be a pretty good flight, as I experienced on one of my 77W flights to HKG.
Certainly puts AA in a league well ahead of UA in the J/C cabin sweepstakes!
