Check your math. For two people in J, MUC-AUH-JNB-AUH-MUC should cost 300K AA miles, not 600K AA miles (30K+45K+45K+30K=150K miles per person).
Any advice on this? I spoke to AA and they said it was two awards because it's flying to Middle East, and then Africa. They said it was 600K for two J flights. If you have a way I could keep it at 300K that would be very much appreciated.

is two awards in each direction, and as I indicated in my earlier post, Europe-Middle East is 30K in J, and Middle East-Africa is 45K in J. So for a roundtrip for one person, you would have a total of four awards: 30K+45K+45K+30K, or 150K AA miles per person.
If it had priced as a single award in each direction, the roundtrip would have cost just 150K AA miles per person.
