When my daughter was about 9 she went to stay with my sister in Zurich (all on air-miles and no charge then for unaccompanied minors). We handed her over to a BA lady at passport control. She was introduced to the pilot when she got in the plane, asked if she would like to sit in business class, and then when she had finished her snack was invited to sit with the pilot in the cockpit until the plane landed. It was a great experience and one she will never forget.
