VX lost out on my last trip to NYC because of its "drip release" discounted F. I flew AA J instead. VX lost out on a business colleague's ORD F ticket because of its "drip release" discounted F. I bought a ticket for about $1K RT, and when he looked to book it was substantially higher and chose Y, even though I was holding the only F seat in the cabin at the time. I am still the only seat occupied on both flights up front, and booked the ticket in February.
