The problem could be the airline, not Singapore itself. In fact, for Singapore, even if IROPs would force the OP to stay longer, remaining within the transit area and staying in one of the three transit hotels is entirely viable. It's not like many other airports where even transit passengers should carry documents to be able to leave the airport if there's a missed connection, etc. Or course, it would be more fun to spend a few days in "downtown" Singapore rather than SIN airport, but at least the airport has lots to things to do as well as restaurants, etc.
