Being an aging cynic I wonder if by starting earlier and cutting the connection times, the airlines are able to squeeze a few more flights a day out of both crew and aircraft? That ought to raise revenues for the price of a little extra (now lower cost) fuel which would flow almost directly to the bottom line.
Assuming of course that we don't jump ship because we actually care about early mornings and the stress of too many almost missed connections....
As a now Sunday/Friday PM business traveler (today I got a reprieve) my flight options are limited. I want and need as much time as possible at home on Sunday, in part because I have prep work today (which often I just go to the airport early and use the AC). Friday its hard to leave the client much before 4PM (unless I want to hear yelling directors). So often I'm down to tight connections. Getting a little too old to be running through airports.
