I am seeing more of this kind of 'parallel processing' attitude slowly creeping into EK these days - doesn't make me feel bad giving up my Plat status.
On the other hand - I think it's even more weird if they were to say the same formula (or close enough variant) to people who were next to or opposite the aisle from one another and within hearing. I think it's more natural to address people together especially when you are about to say exactly the same thing - I think I prefer that than the awkward situation where you are going around giving a "personal" greeting that you just repeated five seconds earlier to the person next to you.
