So, I'd like to instead have two one-way awards at 12.5k each (I know...I should've booked it this way to begin with). Called DL to see if I could "split" my RT ticket into two one-ways, and the agent said she'd have to completely cancel and then rebook at the going mileage price of 17.5k in each direction.
Is this a case of HUCA? Or can they really not break things up? What happens if I leave it as a RT and then find out that week (>72 hrs in advance of the outbound) that I only need one leg? Could I call at that point and just get 12.5k miles back?
But was the o/w award available at 12.5K?
There is no reason at all DL could not sell O/W at 17.5K each, RT at 25K each. In that case, it would be unreasonable to expect DL to split it to 12.5K.
DL most certainly never has said that O/W is half of RT.
