Using either United or ANA web booking sites , I find I can book "first class" from Syracuse NY to Tokyo Narita via Chicago (one stop) for approx. 7000.oo to 7500.oo USD . This seems way too cheap , more like business class for ANA . Booking straight from Chicago , the first class ANA fare is more what I expected--almost 20,000.oo USD . Simply starting in Syracuse to Chicago via a connector flight would lower the ANA First fare THAT MUCH? Why?? Neither airline can give me a clear answer as to whether I would actually have ANA First , not business unless I actually book a reservation and they can check . Of course , cannot pull up a seat chart for either site for the flight before booking. Anyone familiar with this type of situation??
