On MF there used to be two FTC position (sort of equivalent to the Customer Service Leader on WW) crew, on the A380 for example, this has been reduced to one. So only one CSM and one FTC on board trying to manage upwards of 20 crew members many of whom have not been in the job for a very long time. Obviously this makes it extremely difficult to maintain service standards across the whole aircraft.
The FTCs were also told that only in times of disruption they may be asked to take aircraft out in charge (ie without a CSM). Many are coming into work however to find that on a normal day they are being rostered to take aircraft out in charge with no CSM on board.
On all fleets BA are working crew to the bone, as Yesitsme was saying, and even worse for the LGW crew with all the extra uncertainty hanging over their heads. I hope the situation at LGW has a good outcome for crew there in the near future, unfortunately though I won't hold my breath.
