Yes, it is a good think that hotel management tries to rectify things. But it would be even better than a so-called luxury brand makes sure such issues (basic maintenance) never happen.
Sofitels in France (outside Paris) are far from international luxury standards in terms of room size (25 sqm a luxury room?!?), interior design (please, Accor management, build a real design team; stop with Ligne Roset; visit for example
