I haven't flown BA for a while and used other airlines (including non-oneworld ones), I reluctantly found myself on the BA16 SYD-LHR yesterday (cattle class of course).
My routine over the years is to hunt down the movies that have English subtitles and add it to my favourites, which is a bit of a tedious, trial and error process that involves playing some of the movies first (past the usual trailers/adverts which don't have subtitles) to see if they really do have them and then stopping it and return to menu to add it to my favourites.
Usually I go into World Cinema and pick a few Hong Kong or French movies as the new releases are occasionally subtitled and left to linger for months and months and World Cinema has a good chance of something being subtitled in English that I hadn't seen before on the last flight.
Imagine my pleasant surprise to see there is a nice one-stop-shop in the menu to find subtitled movies - no more fishing around looking for a needle in a haystack! This include audio descriptions so it will benefit the visually impaired passengers too. There were 27 or 30 movies with this accessibility option.
^ Well done BA, that's a really good step in the right direction, I'm well chuffed and will send an email off to the IFE manager too. Now, how about getting those TV shows subtitled too?
