Kayak.com will often show the best prices. If your dates are a little flexible, select the +/-3days option there to see if you can save money that way.

There are really no other fantastic tricks. Very rarely, an extremely good fare appears, but that is usually for only a few specific dates, and often is sold out within hours. You can't count in getting one when and where you plan to travel.
