Hi Mimi

Sorry to hear about your bad experience - but honestly, why did you let this spoil your experience?

I did a (very quick) search for Etihads phone number in ZRH. Easily found, easily reachable. I had email contact with them in the past, it also wasn't a problem.

In fact, ZRH is a hub for Etihad, I doubt they wouldn't be reachable.. any chance you tried a wrong number, or didn't used the country code properly?

Also, if luggage gets lost, you can buy (reasonably) new amount of clothes and the airline will reimburse you for it.

Did you use "trace your baggage" on their website?

Honestly, unless it totally got lost (like, ripped-off tags) I can't believe that it wouldn't be sent after you for 7 days.

My assumption in your case: Your luggage didn't made it on the ZRH flight in Abu Dhabi, was sent by the next plane. In ZRH, they tried to contact you once it was there, but there was a problem getting in touch with you (and somehow you didn't contact them either)

If you're staying a week in Europe, obviously Etihad will send the luggage to Zurich (and from there to whatever place in Switzerland/Austria you're staying) and not back to your original airport.

Of course, if you don't contact them, and gave them no information how to contact you, what do you expect to happen? The luggage was most probably reaching just a few hours after you ZRH as well.. and then they simply didn't know what to do with you.

Sure, Etihad should have tried to contact you more aggressively I guess, but without knowing the details, it's just remaining unclear what happened. The thing I'm sure is that Etihad for sure wasn't unreachable in ZRH..
