Why is that?
Power consumption on the Pentium M's is MUCH better than the P4 M's. Performance is close and in some cases better than a P4M. Battery life is 2-4 times longer with a Pentium M at the similar real world performance as a Pentium 4-M

BTW: the Pentium M core is a different core than the P3/P4 family. It was designed as a semi-new core with low power in mind - yet good performance. The Centrino branding refers to Pentium M, the Intel system chipset and the Intel WLAN solution being in a notebook.
