Wow, I'd never heard of Etymotics before, I think I'll be getting them instead of Bose... thanks for the tip! But a quick search on http://shopping.yahoo.com turns up two models, any idea how the Etymotics ER-6 ($129) compares to the ER-4P ($269) praised above?</font>

I started with ER6 and then moved up to er-4P headphones. The ER4s have a noticeably better sound quality. Better bass and fuller richer midranges. Both headphones have very clear clean sound. Bass is different than other headphones. The bass is there and goes deep, but it is not overemphasized. Also, bass is really terrible if you don't get a good seal. It can take several weeks to learn how to get a good fit and seal.

I compared my ER4s to the new Bose Quiet Comfort II at the Bose display in the Denver airport. I used my IPOD to listen to several songs. The Bose did a nice job of noise cancellation, they were quite comfortable, but I found the bass to be quite exagerated and the sound to exhibit very detectable distortion. It was quite a releif for me to go back to the etys.
