I saw this phone at GSMWorld congress in Cannes this year. It as branded a "Vodafone" device. From what I heard at the time, Vodafone and Verizon (Verizon is 50% owned by Vodafone) would push this device into roamers that go between the US and Europe... The roaming rate for Europe users to roam on Verizon will be lower than the roaming rate onto GSM networks in the US such as T-Mobile, Cingular, etc...
I'm hoping this puts the pressure on the GSM partners to REALLY cut the trans atlantic roaming costs.
