I might just test this theory in October. Wife used her companion cert for us for a rt of LAX-SAN, and she may be skipping the return half.

Reminds me of a funny story. In college, I was on the debate team (two people per team). In the first round, I sat alone with the judges. The opposing team was "no show" and my partner was nowhere to be seen.

Judges tell me, "If your partner doesn't show up, both teams forfeit!" I told them, "My partner had a rough night, and he's puking in the bathroom. Want me to go get him?" Judges said, "No, that's OK", and they forfeited the just the other team instead of us both."

I can get really creative with back-up stories to cover for my primary partner if need be
