This is true: I needed a one-way DEN-LAX (ironically to position for a mileage run on a different airline) and UA offered P class for $234 vs. $166 for economy. Why sweat being on the CPU list that you know won't clear when a first-class seat is only $68 more?
I am so wary of UA now; I'm booked on a 5:30 a.m. DEN-LAX because the 8:30-ish departure would only give me 90 minutes at LAX to connect.
As a million-miler it feels GREAT to use UA when it is convenient, and fly different airlines that seem to be glad to see me!
