Garuda has made significant changes in the last ten years, with most noticeable within the last 5 years, They have scored very high in the Skytrax awards, with high regard for their crew, the business and first class cabins, (first on the 777) and also economy cabin gets a mention.

Indonesia is a country of approx 200 million inhabitants, and they are a bit like India and China, a fast growing middle class. Lots of people travelling, the growth in LCC like Lion Air and Air Asia Indonesia attest to that.

Garuda is a wonderful airline, yes they have had some issues in the past - but I have flown them for many years, I would choose Garuda Business Class long before I considered Emirates Business Class.

The last time I flew Garuda, Sydney to Jakarta connecting to Kuala Lumpur, I was spoken to each time by crew who used my name, I wanted for nothing, the transfer at Jakarta was easy and fast, the staff were waiting for me and escorted me to the lounge, and even when I checked in in Sydney I was able to check in 4.5 hrs prior to departure, as they were checking in the DPS flight, and the Station Manager told me she would prefer me to be in the lounge having a glass of bubbles that much earlier.
