S7 is a partner in one world hence avios can be used for redemption inside russia and availability is quite big. I would hav thought that AAdvantage miles can also be used.
Actually there is a restriction from AAdvantage, but the details are not given online:

Use AAdvantage miles to book award travel on S7 with oneworld and Other Airline Awards which allow you to travel to and from your desired destination using any combination of our airline participants. Please note that destinations in Eastern Russia are not valid for redemption on S7 using this award type.
