I have stopped waiting for the emails, since they are no longer reliable or timely. If I'm concerned about the position of my upgraded seat, ordering meals, etc. I simply check my reservation at specific points until I see it's upgraded:
- Just after the start of the upgrade window (T-100 hours for me)
- Around 6 am central each day prior to departure, including day of departure
- Around 3 hours before departure
Since at least the first of this year, upgrades happening outside of those times are extremely rare in my experience.
