I went out an got one, and it seems to be working OK.
While I acknowledge that some people report problems with their units, I have had none thus far (knock wood).
Nowhere in the documentation does it claim to be effective like a HEPA blow-sucker, and I don't think it's intended to.
Perhaps those people were enticed by TV advertising, which I never saw.
But as with nearly all ads, buyer beware!
It does freshen the rooms, neutralizing even the familiar "home smell."
I think it is more suitably touted as an air freshener than a purifier. In this respect, I would much rather pay the extra for an ozone generator/ionizer than those chemical fragrances which aren't good for you (allergic reactions).
I guess only time will tell as far as reliability is concerned, but the unit comes with a 5 year warranty.
