My parents have a rear projection TV and it's pretty bad. Viewing angles aren't great and horizontal lines flicker a ton. Then again, they got the TV before HD was a thing so it could easily be a lot better now.

OLED is really nice but it's probably still too expensive for airlines to consider except possibly in J/F. There's burn-in issues to consider, too.
