Good question. I see potential stays in the future where I might have a room paid in cash and another room with points. It is not just the points. Will the whole stay (2 rooms) be then considered a reward stay and the nights of the cash room not count towards LT Diamond qualification? This scenario assumes I stay in the cash room and the reward room is for friends / family.
