The other thing, might depend upon whether male and female. Age. If in business class or not.
At the end of the day, our perception was not that it made a big difference.
(Our experience includes YYZ-TPE a couple of years back and, earlier this year, YVR-TPE and TPE-CDG. All in business class.)
I flew EVA from TPE-NRT this month and got a free upg because I was stat gold. Comparable to AC J domestic on a single aisle plane. In terms of service very accomodating and super helpful where drinks service is concerned and no issues with only English. IFE was poor.
Also flew ANA from NRT-TPE in Y and it was same as AC Y except the seats were more like preferred.
