Interesting read! Also worth remembering when it comes to the famed ten-minute turn is that load factors were generally lower...typically in the 50's in the early-mid 70's for Southwest...and there were far fewer kids, special-needs and wheelchair passengers then, both due the nature of their network then and to the differing norms.

Still, every once in awhile you witness a late inbound turned in fewer than 20 minutes and it is kind of cool. Unfortunately it seems more the norm that if the turn was scheduled for 30 minutes it ends up taking 30-35 minutes no matter if the inbound is late or not.
