There are several providers - where you need a subscription.

Tmobile does SOME airport lounges/airports and all Starbucks; go to:

There is no equivalent of "ipass" in mass use today for roaming onto another hotspot operator. This will likely happen in the future... just don't hold your breath.

Normally when you see a public hotspot - you can open up your browser and then go to anywebsite - you will be re-directed to the hotspot operator's sign/up login in site. You can get more info on who runs the hotspot/pricing etc.

There are some free hotspots as well or public hotspots being run by private people.

Also, which Linksys card did you get??
