Delta SkyMiles and their "customer service" - truly a sham and a joke

Forum members, I can count on one hand (maybe two) the number of negative or positive reviews I have EVER left for any company, hotel, restaurant, etc. I simply do not Yelp nor review on TripAdvisor or any other site. But my experience today with Delta is impetus to leave a scathing review and admonishment for others.

To avoid a lengthy story, a Delta SkyMiles employee (not AMEX) induced me into applying for a card to then redeem the bonus miles for a trip he personally booked for me, thought it was not ticketed due to shortage of miles in my account.

After applying for the new credit card (which I have no need for, but 50K bonus miles are nice), I was then told by a different rep that miles would not post in time to use for my itinerary. After nearly two hours on and off hold, they gave me some supplemental miles to book itinerary. To compensate for time, aggravation, and chiefly running and thereby dinging my credit score, I requested 50K miles as a compensatory gesture. American Airlines gave me 50K miles when a vendor to my business did not accept their AMEX card for a $50K transaction - no questions asked. Delta did not yield, made no apologies, and they even tried to pawn it off as American Express allegedly/perhaps making a mistake. No accountability from Delta. I had to reiterate verbatim, "My issue is with Delta, not American Express."

I am ticked and wish to share my story. I believe Delta can be a good company and have had decent experiences flying with them. Still, this SkyMiles issue will not be forgotten and they have now lost a huge chunk of business. If only they had acted differently and put the customer first...Penny-wise, pound-foolish.

I just wish to be heard and hope you all have a more favorable experience with Delta. But alas, you've been warned. Safe travels!
