I hear that a lot of consumer wireless NICs are based on the non-LEAP Cisco chipset and work well. Of course I had to buy the lemon.

It looks like the general web consensus is that that something went really wrong when Linksys went from v2.5 of this product to v3. Some people have reported success running the v2.5 drivers with the v3 hardware but there do not appear to be any XP-compatible v2.5 drivers.

Even Linksys tech support urges you not to run the included auto-install program and instead perform a manual driver installation, contrary to the poster-sized instructions in the box.

Ugh...
