This is very likely - the redesign makes the website more mobile friendly.
Getting rid of the mouse-over menus makes things easier for touch screens.
And if you notice that the layout/content alters itself dynamically depending on the size of the browser window (try it out - make your browser window really narrow). That way, they don't have to try to detect what kind of device you're on (phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc) - just the size of the window they get to draw in.
Also - notice that the "Ask Jenn" feature drops off the menu once they screen size gets narrow enough. Probably since Jenn doesn't work on mobile browsers.
