No, they are not.

They are lightweight, and cover the ear. My biggest (and only) beef with the NC-11s I've tried is that they don't do a really go job of keeping ambient noise out, thus defeating the purpose of being "cancelling" headphones.

I used to prefer earbud style headsets, until I went with something that was supposed to cancel noise .

YMMV, of course.
