My husband's hearing is not too good and we always are on speaker phone when I call. I open the call with the rep, informing him who I am, calling on behalf of my husband as his hearing isn't good particularly over the phone. However we are on speaker phone here and you can talk to him to verify his ID. At that time my husband would chime in to say hello. The rep verified his ID and then asked for permission if it was OK to talk to his wife. Then I took over the call. Works with every single bank every single rep on virtually all subjects.

As for the retention offers, they are already in the system attached to the account - whatever the system shows, would be the options the rep could offer. Rep does not have a menu to pick and choose - all they see are what in the system which are generated by computer models based on many factors we have no idea. The only thing a rep can do or not do, is to dig deeper and go thru the whole list sometimes involves the second screen, to exhaust the options shown - that is, if your account is lucky enough to have many options attached, but that is a rare occurrence. Most accounts have one, may be two, offers at most. Some accounts have NONE.

Same here. After they verify he hands the phone back to me.

I wish he wouldn't as a couple of times he's done the talking, he's gotten better offers than I expected!
