Orbitz is now suing the travel company specialising issuing the "missed last leg" fares to those who are prepared to miss the last leg of their flight. There is a considerable price advantage of doing so, the airlines can easily take away the price advantage by pricing for sector stop by sector stop instead of point to point pricing. My two cents.
