" Even if your dates change, as long as your origin and destination do not (and assuming there is Saver space), there is no change fee."
But that's the problem, isn't it? The OP will be looking for two TATL SAAver seats in J during the peak travel time for TATL travel. So booking a J SAAver award now for dates (or destinations) that might not work down the road is risky.
Agreed, but booking AAnytime awards right now is pointless. If they cannot take the risk of $200 change fee or $300 redeposit fee as a gamble for reserving J, there is no point in going ahead and forcing themselves into Coach AAnytime Awards.
Wait to book the AAnytime awards until 1 month out. Likely there will be a few of either Coach SAAver or Business SAAver one month out, which would either be a huge improvement in quality or a huge savings. Why lock yourself into a double-price award that you will likely need to change? There is a huge risk: you are paying double with no upside.

I agree that there is no upside to booking AAnytime Coach awards 11 months out. But in the OP's case, I don't think that there is an upside to booking SAAver Business awards 11 months out either, since it seems unlikely that they will actually be used on the ticketed dates, and finding a pair of TATL J SAAver seats for summer travel on short notice is likely to be difficult, if not impossible.
I would defer booking
anything until the OP has a better sense of actual travel dates (and destination). Then book the best available award: SAAver Business (if you can find it); SAAver Coach (if you can find it); or AAnytime Coach (as a last resort).
