Actually, I think the "Andaz concept" is past its prime. Hipsters standing around in their own clothes, iPads in hand, waiting to check you in was novel when iPads were novel. Now it looks a little dated and silly.
I can't agree with your thoughts but to each their own.
My guests spanned 27 through 40s on my last stay and all loved it and thought it was unique
To me the concept is timeless and improved on from the old W days (circa 2000) and before that Ian Schraeger and Steve Rubell who started it all post Studio 54
with the first boutique hotel Morgans back in the early 80s
There is a front desk at Andaz and though they may use portable devices but its really a great experience
For those that like the traditional check in there are zillions of choices in and out of Hyatt
The only thing that can hurt Andaz is bad service, poor decision making, bad food,closing the restaurant at the Wall Street location
and not keeping the hard product renovated and updated
I think the brand will likely be relevant many years to come
