Ok, just for fun, real-world example, 1 ticket:

SFO-LED, 4/2/16-4/9/16, Y class, aa.com: "Your Trip Price: 40,000 miles + $712.70 USD"

SFO-LED, 4/2/16-4/9/16, Y class, orbitz.com: $919.67 on Lufthansa (and a better connection too)

So, which is the "logical" choice?

I realize this is nearly a year away but, family trips often get booked this way.
