(also, AA metal would not let you use the CCR. I would not bother going in Y on mileage.)
Also, I have used my mileage for SINLON//MILSIN for 105k miles in U class when the cheapest comparable ticket (in economy on CX) was >SGD 2000 (and was able to receive reimbursement for 60% of the cost of the ticket + LONMIL paid in cash.)
(I am no defender of the BA scamcharges either, but I do understand how there is some value from redeeming with them.)
