Everyone seems to be out of all of the older vintages, 21 & 25 yrs old. I checked Hasegawa's at Tokyo station and they were out of it as well.
There were still a few 21s and one shop with a 25 in Narita in late May, but then again, they'd hiked the prices so much... nearly $500 for 21s and IIRC more like $900 for the 25.
Still, people are paying it. I just plopped down $500 for Karuizawa a week ago...

I think I saw a Taketsuru 21 a couple of weeks ago, at a shop way down near gate 55 or so in T1, but they only had a couple of bottles. It was pricey, around 50000 yen. I got 17 earlier this year really cheap, but didn't see a bottle of it anywhere in May.
