Mirror destroyed on my rental - what to do?
We rented in Las Vegas last week and will be returning in San Francisco in 2 weeks. Currently in San Diego. This morning we drove to the beach for a jog and when I got back to the car someone had destroyed the side view mirror. It was slapped up against the passenger window, glass on the ground and the plastic casing cracked. My best guess is a cyclist.
I'm not sure what to do now. I was so peeved at the time that I didn't think to call the police. We rented through a UK firm and have LDW but I'm sure they'll still find a way to charge us. I'm reading through the rental agreement now and it does state the the renter is responsible for any damage to the car whether it was your fault or not.
Is it possible to get it repaired ourselves today and carry on to LA as planned? I figure that's our cheapest option but it's my first time renting abroad so I have no idea what the procedure is. Looking for the quickest and cheapest way to deal with this.
