I disagree with those that say that you should not call on their behalf. You are a platinum so you will get through to better customer service people who will be more inclined/more empowered to be helpful. If at all possible I would get them on a conference call while you call the plat line and explain the situation. In my experience Delta is pretty good about bending rules and waiving fees if it is a true emergency.
