I think MCT for CX to CX in HKG is 50 min (perhaps 55 min). I don't understand why AA allowed a 30 min transfer to be ticketed.

You can ask the LAX MCT for AA in the AA forum. It varies depending on domestic & international. Yours is domestic to international. You may also bring up your other question there (i.e., escort if delayed?).

Please bear in mind MCT is really very tight, especially for a person with two small children.
